Celebrating Indigenous Voice

    Humanities and Social Sciences Research Workshop

    All are welcome to this three-day workshop on legends and narratives in languages of the tropics. Join your convenors Luca Ciucci, Pema Wangdi and Alexandra Aikhenvald from Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th November at The Cairns Institute. 

    Topics include but not limited to:

    • Manambu language from the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea
    • Doromu-Koki language from the Central Province region of Papua New Guinea
    • Kurtöp language is an East Bodish language spoken in Kurtoe Gewog, Lhuntse District, Bhutan
    • Brokpa language is a Southern Tibetic language spoken in the Sakteng Valley of Trashigang District in Eastern Bhutan
    • Old Zamuco from the Chaco area of southeastern Bolivia and northern Paraguay 
    • Hmong-Mien language from southern China and northern part of South-East Asia
    • Idi language from Western Province, Papua New Guinea
    • Kamula language from Western Province, Papua New Guinea
    • Yidin language from Far North Queensland
