    Call for Presentations | Expression of Interest (EOI)

    Are you a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student undertaking research in the social sciences? Or a Masters with a thesis component involving social science research? We invite you to submit an Expression of Interest to present your research at Emerging Research in Social Sciences, a showcase event as part of Social Sciences Week 2025.

    This event aims to spotlight the exciting and diverse work being done by HDR students across the social science disciplines. Presenters will share their research in a 3-minute presentation using up to 3 slides, offering a concise and engaging overview of their project to a broad audience. Only 10 spots available!

    Event Details
    Date: Wednesday 10th September 2025 | Location: The Cairns Institute D3.054 | Time: 4.00pm
    Audience: Academics, fellow researchers, students, and members of the public

    Presentation Format

    • 3 minutes speaking time
    • Maximum of 3 PowerPoint slides
    • No question time (networking opportunities will follow)

    We welcome presentations from all fields within the social sciences, including but not limited to: sociology, anthropology, political science, economics, human geography, criminology, education, cultural studies, and public policy.

    To submit your EOI, please include:

    • Your name, institution, and degree program
    • Title of your presentation
    • A short abstract (max 150 words)
    • A brief biography (max 100 words)

    EOI Submission deadline 20th August 2025

    Whether you are just starting your project or are well into your research journey, this is a valuable opportunity to share your ideas, gain presentation experience, and connect with other emerging scholars. Note: HDR students will gain a point towards their Leadership & Initiative plan.
