Dr. Abner Yalu is a researcher, consultant, and Indigenous leader from Papua New Guinea, with expertise in plant breeding, biometrics, social network analysis, and sustainable livelihoods. With over 15 years’ experience across Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific, he works with First Nations organisations, governments, and international partners to strengthen governance, land and water rights, and food security through place-based, culturally grounded approaches. A published author and experienced trainer, Abner combines data analysis, applied research, and community-based methods to support Indigenous enterprises, bushfoods development, and sustainable agriculture. His work bridges science, policy, and practice to create positive change for people, communities, and country.
