UNESCO 2001 Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage: Highlights from the 2018 Meetings

In 2017, JCU joined the UNESCO UNITWIN Network for Underwater Archaeology as an Associate Member. This led to an opportunity to attend the annual meeting of the 2001 UNESCO Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage in Paris in April. In addition to providing an overview of the Convention, and introducing the UNITWIN Network, this presentation will delve into two recent high profile international case studies in underwater archaeology: the San Jose shipwreck and the protection of the Skerki Banks.
