The Cairns Institute is located at James Cook University’s Cairns Campus with outreach to other campuses.
The Federal government funded the construction of The Cairns Institute facility at the entrance to James Cook University’s Cairns campus. This state-of-the-art centre provides research, training and learning areas and laboratories as well as conference, exhibition and meeting spaces within a building designed to be an icon of sustainable tropical architecture.
Parking for visitors is allowed in the areas designated Permit, Free and Public but visitors to the campus must purchase a daily casual ‘scratch-it’ permit for $2 from the Co-Op Bookshop. These permits enable parking in Permit, Free and Public areas on campus for one day periods.
This printable Cairns Campus Transit and Parking Map shows the location of parking areas and the Co-Op Bookshop for purchasing scratch-it permits.
